Where to Register Dogs in South Africa

There are different registering bodies. Some breeds have their own register. Who you register your puppies with, depends on where the parents are registered. Not all registries are equal, and some registration certificates have little value.

KUSA - Kennel Union of Southern Africa

KUSA is the authority on breed standards. They lay down the law as to what height etc a dog must be. They organise dog shows & invite international judges to assess whether our dogs are up to world standards. It's best to register your pups with KUSA as the folk buying them won't be able to compete in dog shows without a KUSA certificate. You'll find the guidelines for registering puppies and adult dogs on this page: KUSA

Please beware of scams when parting with money to register dogs! When buying puppies, try to get a dog that is registered with the best registry possible.

It's worth while making the effort to register puppies. When we have a litter, we seldom think of what it can lead to: those who buy puppies from us will likely breed with them. Say we have 5 puppies & those puppies grow up & have a litter each - that 25 puppies in less than a year! It's hard to believe that one mating can start a population explosion! When God told Abraham & his wife Sarah that they would be the parents of great nations - they laughed. They did not believe God. But their descendants became like sand on the sea shore. "Is anything too hard for God?" Genesis 18, 14
