Dogs -Japanese Shiba InuShiba Inu means, "Little dog." The Shiba Inu originated in central Japan where they were bred for hunting all kinds of animals. They are the smallest hunting dogs. They are fast, cunning, and unafraid. Shibas make good watchdogs. The Shiba Inu has a distinctive bushy tail curled over his back. The thick, short coat has a coarse texture. He has short, erect ears and an alert expression. The eyes are slanted and the face is fox-like. Height: males 39.5 cms at shoulder, females 36.5 cms Class: This Spitz type dog falls in the Utility Group.

The Shiba Inu is fairly new in South Africa, but there are a few breeders. Japanese Shiba Inus owned by Mr F. M. S-D, South Africa. The red & gold dog is Rafiki Sita. The black & tan dog is Sibra Hot Attraction.
